5 Songs… Paul Marc Rousseau (Silverstein)
Hi, my name is Paul Marc Rousseau and here are some songs I like that you may also like.
The Dirty Nil – Zombie Eyed
We did Warped Tour 2015 with The Dirty Nil and within a week they were my favourite band on the tour. I watched them every single day. I’ve never heard a band so effortlessly bounce between classic rock, punk, and grunge tunes without betraying their own sound. I sang along to this track (and every other track) as loud as I could. I remember one night, I sat down with Luke and watched him play the lead riff for an hour. These days I get sneaky and find ways to fit it into our songs live. He also has a guitar that shoots smoke out of the neck pickup and that is so cool.
Kendrick Lamar – King Kunta
Kendrick is undeniable, but this track in particular gives me everything I could ever want. I think the most obvious standout feature is the modulating bass line, but the production as a whole is mind blowing. If you don’t know this song, start knowing it right now.
Elvis Costello – Welcome To The Working Week
„My Aim Is True“ is one of my favourite albums of all time, and track one is a banger. It’s really short, but it’s jammed with all that signature Costello wit and charm that keeps me interested. I’ve always admired the way he implemented complex chord changes without burning the melody. He’s a master and this song is a crash course.
St. Vincent – Digital Witness
I love St. Vincent. Amazing writer and playing. Just listen to it. How are you not dancing already. I hate dancing and I’m already dancing. Top Tip: if you’re sure it’s not guitar, check again because you never really know.
Beartooth – The Lines
Beartooth (also known as one half of SILVERTOOTH) are our best friends and I love them a lot. I really could choose any Beartooth here because they all rule, but this one is a personal favourite of mine. Amazing band, amazing dudes, amazing show. Check it.
